Fundamentals of the Faith

The Foundation of Truth--the Word of God

Part 1

►What is the Bible for?

The Foundation: The Word of God-the Bible

►What claims does the Bible make about itself?

1.) 2Timothy 3:14-17

“But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus…”

Q: What makes us wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus?

A: The Scriptures, the Bible, the Word of God.

Q: How much of Scripture is inspired from God?

A: All of it.

Q: What is the Bible useful for?

A: Teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness

Q: What purpose does the Bible’s usefulness serve?

A: Its purpose is to thoroughly equip us for every good work.

2.) Hebrews 4:12-13

Does the Word of God only apply to some people?

Is God’s Word only for people that lived a long time ago?

3.) 2Peter 1:12-21

The Scriptures have nothing to do with man. They have everything to do with God. The prophets did not speak on their own accord. As servants of the Most High, they just said what God wanted them to say. They were the mouthpieces and instruments God spoke through.

4.) 2Peter 3:13-17

Even while Peter was still alive he endorsed Paul’s writings as Scripture.

5.) Mark 7:6-13

6.) Jude 3

The faith was ONCE for ALL entrusted to the saints 2000 years ago

►The reason all of this is so important:

8.) John 12:47-48

What will be the “standard of judgment” at Judgment Day?

9.) Luke 12:45-47

Jesus said people will be “cut up” on Judgment Day. What will this instrument be that is used to “cut people to pieces” with?

► What will be used to cut and judge the nations with?

10.) Ephesians 6:17

11.) Revelation 2:12,16

12.) Revelation 19:11-21

The Bible is God’ s  “instruction manual” for mankind. Whether we accept and follow the teachings of the Scriptures is what we will be judged on at Judgment Day. This is why it is imperative we know the Scriptures and what they teach so that we can obey and follow them.

On Judgment Day,

Which will prevail?

The traditions and teachings of men,

or

the Word of God?

Before next study:

Question: Do you want to make the Bible the standard to live your life by?
